Marwah Wedding Organiser Scam: 24 Victims Documented, Losses Reach Rp2.6 Billion

58 couples are suspected to be victims of fraud by wedding organiser Marwah. Of the 24 documented victims, total reported losses amount to approximately Rp2.6 billion. “To date, from the 24 documented victims, the total reported losses reach approximately Rp2,658,885,000,” said Police Commissioner Alfian Nurrizal, head of East Jakarta Metropolitan Police, in an official TikTok post (@alfiannurrizal.id).

Preliminary data shows 58 couples are suspected victims. Of these, two couples have already married but did not receive the promised services, while the remaining 56 have yet to hold their planned weddings. The number of victims and losses may increase as documentation and verification of other victims continue.

In the same post, a meeting between Marwah’s victims and two suspects detained in the case took place at East Jakarta Metropolitan Police station. The meeting was led by Alfian and attended by investigators from the East Jakarta Metropolitan Police Criminal Investigation Unit and the victims. The victims demanded accountability for their losses. One victim stated the primary focus is recovering the financial losses. “We demand accountability. That’s the main point,” said one victim.
