Jakarta, KOMPAS.com - RM (34), owner of Marwah Wedding Organiser (WO) in Cakung, East Jakarta, has fled after allegedly scamming a newlywed couple from Bekasi.

Kompol Andaru Rahutomo, Head of Public Relations Subsection at Jakarta Metropolitan Police, said officers visited the WO’s office but found it empty. ‘Yes (he fled), the suspect, based on the investigation and findings by investigators, is currently not at his office. This is still under investigation,’ Andaru stated at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police headquarters on Tuesday (26/5/2026).

‘Given several involvements, it will develop from the facts found,’ he added.

Currently, police have only received a report from one victim whose wedding reception was not organised despite payment being made. However, they have information about other potential victims who will file reports at East Jakarta Police District, which has set up a complaint desk.

Investigators are also questioning witnesses, including the building owner where the wedding was supposed to take place, who previously worked with the suspect.

‘Currently, the team is still working to locate the suspect while gathering the existing facts,’ he said.

Previously, newlyweds from Bekasi, West Java, Aldi (32) and Feny (32), reported Marwah WO to East Jakarta Police District on suspicion of fraud on Sunday (24/5/2026) evening. Marwah WO failed to provide the wedding reception package despite the full payment of Rp85 million.

‘Physical evidence is all digital: chats, all transactions, signed statements, photos—all from the owner,’ Aldi said at East Jakarta Police District headquarters Sunday evening.
