JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The water supply pipe serving the needs of residents in RT 1 and RT 2 RW 07 Marunda, Cilincing, North Jakarta, is suspected to have been hit by an excavator during sediment dredging around the Anakan Blencong River, near the Marunda flats project.

RT 1/RW 07 Marunda chairman, Arizal, said that the water disruption began to be felt by residents after sediment dredging activities were carried out in the area under the bridge near the flats project.

“Gradually, the water died out. Why no notification? Usually, there is a notification,” said Arizal when met by Kompas.com on Monday (11/5/2026).

After receiving the report, he immediately checked the conditions on site and found water spillage around the bridge area.

“I went out, I checked, yes, all residents’ water was out. I looked, yes, like that, there was this water,” he said.

The disruption report was then conveyed by residents along with neighbourhood officials to PAM Jaya.

“I also told Mr RW, ‘Mr Haji, Mr RW, this PAM report heading to Marunda Pulo seems to have been hit by heavy equipment, hit by the excavator’,” he said.

Arizal suspected that the position of the pipe, covered in mud, had complicated the leak handling process.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Sub-Group for Housing Provision of the DKI Jakarta Housing Department, Akbar Rizali, confirmed that a PAM pipe was hit by an excavator during the dredging.

“For this info, it’s true that during sediment dredging, the existing PAM pipe was hit by an excavator, and yesterday it was already being handled by the PAM team, where today the pipe replacement is scheduled by PAM,” he said when confirmed via WhatsApp message by Kompas.com on Monday.

Akbar added that his side would coordinate with relevant agencies if any public facilities are affected by the project.
