Marulina Dewi Focuses on Strengthening Public Communication and Digitalisation
The Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov DKI Jakarta) has marked a further step in strengthening governance, including in the increasingly strategic public communication sector, through the inauguration of 11 high-ranking principal officials.
This appointment comes amid the need for increasingly adaptive public communication, in line with the dynamic changes in society’s information consumption patterns. One of them is Marulina Dewi Mutiara as the new Head of the Communications, Informatics, and Statistics Agency (Diskominfotik) of DKI Jakarta.
Marulina Dewi Mutiara expressed appreciation for the trust from the Governor of DKI Jakarta. She views the transition period until taking effective office on 1 June as an important space for consolidation and alignment of work directions.
“We have time to prepare more thoroughly—from cross-OPD coordination, programme mapping, to policy alignment. That way, when we start effectively later, we can move quickly,” Marulina stated.
Looking ahead, she affirmed her commitment to strengthening public communication that is not only fast but also credible and responsive to public needs. She also highlighted the importance of accelerating digital transformation within the Jakarta Provincial Government environment.
Marulina emphasised that the integration of digital services as well as the utilisation of data and statistics will become the foundation in supporting more measured policies.
“The utilisation of data and statistics must be the basis for accurate and measured policy-making, towards evidence-based policy,” she said.
According to her, collaboration with various stakeholders—including media, communities, and the private sector—will be key in strengthening the communication ecosystem and public services going forward.
Amid the increasing dynamics of information, future public communication challenges are seen as increasingly complex. However, opportunities are also wide open along with the high internet penetration in Jakarta.
For this reason, Marulina invited all elements of society to jointly build a healthy and constructive information ecosystem. With a collaborative and innovation-based approach, she is optimistic that public communication in Jakarta can become increasingly relevant, transparent, and competitive.
Previously, Governor Pramono Anung stated that the filling of positions was carried out through a talent management approach, considering organisational needs and leadership capacity.
“In this determination, the three of us—the Governor, Deputy Governor, and Secretary—communicated and discussed to determine the best names. We used talent management, and hopefully this is the best choice for Jakarta,” Pramono remarked.
In addition, the inauguration timing was also arranged in stages to maintain the continuity of government operations.
“It should be conveyed to avoid misunderstanding that in this inauguration, there are 11 officials appointed. Three take effect from today, four from 1 June, three from 1 August, and one awaits decision,” Pramono added.
This inauguration also serves as part of the consolidation efforts of the government under Pramono’s leadership.
“I and the Deputy Governor congratulate the newly inaugurated officials. Hopefully, they can quickly adapt and carry out their duties in the orchestration of the government we lead,” he concluded.
In the structure of modern government, Diskominfotik plays an important role in ensuring that public information is conveyed effectively, as well as building connectivity between the government and the public.
Amid the continuously developing digital ecosystem, the need for fast, accurate, and relevant communication becomes increasingly crucial.
