Jakarta (ANTARA) – National Border and Remote Areas Management Agency (BNPPDT) chief General TNI Maruli Simanjuntak inspected progress on the construction of the Termanu and Kapsali bridges in Amfoang Barat Daya District, Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara.

Maruli said the inspection followed President Prabowo Subianto’s directive to restore connectivity and make it easier for people in Amfoang Barat Daya to travel.

“The President instructed me to build these bridges,” said Maruli, who is also TNI deputy commander, in a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Sunday.

He said the bridge construction was being supported by the deployment of personnel and equipment on a large scale, including a ship carrying supplies sent from Jakarta.

“We sent a ship with all the equipment, as well as personnel from Jakarta, so that we could complete several bridges. We are adding a few more as well,” he said.

He expressed hope that construction would be completed by the end of 2026 so the bridges could be used by local residents.

“Hopefully, the bridges can be a Christmas present from the President and all of us to you,” he said, addressing residents of Amfoang Barat Daya.

“Rest assured that we will never stop helping the people,” he said.

In addition to building the bridges, he said, the government would seek to support residents’ basic needs, including by providing clean water.
