Marubeni to build RI power plants

TOKYO: Japan's Marubeni Corp. will jointly develop geothermal
power plants in Indonesia with state-run oil firms from Indonesia
and the Philippines, a leading Japanese financial daily reported
on Thursday.

According to the Nihon Keizai Shimbun, feasibility studies are
planned for three prospective geothermal plant sites, and
construction could begin as early as next year.

Marubeni has signed a memorandum on the project with
Indonesia's Pertamina and Philippine National Oil Co., the report
said.

Marubeni is already running geothermal power plants in the
Philippines and Costa Rica. --DPA
