Minister for Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait is targeting the completion of renovations for substandard homes (RTLH) and the revitalisation of the Menteng Tenggulun slum settlement in Central Jakarta by 15 June 2026. The minister, often called Ara, explained that the 152 homes currently under renovation are targeted to be finished by that date. “The 152 homes being renovated will all be completed by 15 June 2026,” said Ara during an inspection of the RTLH renovations and slum revitalisation in Menteng Tenggulun, Central Jakarta, on Friday (24/4/2026). Ara detailed that the renovation progress at the site has reached 11.89%, with two homes already completed—the homes of Pak Sapri and Pak Tatang—101 homes still in the process, and 49 homes yet to be addressed. The team is targeting the 49 unhandled homes to be finished by 30 April. “Progress is at 11.89%, two homes have been renovated, namely Pak Sapri’s and Pak Tatang’s, 101 homes are still in process, and 49 have not been renovated. The unhandled ones will be completed by 30 April 2026, and everything will be done by 15 June 2026,” she continued. In addition to home renovations, local SMEs are being supported in terms of capital and development. A total of 35 SMEs are being assisted in this area. “Besides renovations, we will also nurture 35 SMEs here together with lady bankers and bankers,” she said. Furthermore, the surrounding environment is being upgraded, including the arrangement of pedestrian crossings, the addition of murals, green open spaces, and public toilets. This programme marks the government’s initial step in improving housing quality while organising the environment to make it more livable and comfortable. Embracing the Kampung Gotong Royong concept, the arrangement of the Menteng Tenggulun area is scheduled to take place over 75 days, from 1 April to 15 June 2026.
