Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) plans to build flats (rusun) on land owned by the TNI, where the construction of these flats is also part of reducing the housing backlog for the community.

This is being done following a meeting between Minister of PKP Maruarar Sirait and the Chief of Staff of the Air Force (Kasau), Marshal TNI Mohamad Tonny Harjono, at the Ministry of PKP office on Monday (6/4/2026).

Minister of PKP Maruarar Sirait, often called Ara, stated that there are three locations on TNI land where flats will be built, namely TNI AD land in Cilodong, Depok; TNI AU land in Rumpin, Bogor Regency; and TNI AU land in Tulang Bawang Regency, Lampung.

“Well, earlier he (Kasau) mentioned there are three locations. So we immediately agreed, Sir, because you know the field better. If I’m not mistaken, it’s Tulang Bawang Regency, then Cilodong, and Rumpin,” said Minister Ara at the Ministry of PKP on Monday (6/4/2026).

However, regarding the number of units, the size of the flats, and other details, the team will conduct a direct inspection of the planned flat locations next Sunday (12/4/2026).

“I have instructed the Director General (of Housing and Urban Development), at the latest by Sunday they will conduct a survey, at the latest by Sunday and it will be carried out immediately in accordance with governance,” Ara continued.

In addition, the survey will also seek the mechanism for applying for these flats for TNI members and later for the public, especially low-income communities (MBR) and resilient middle-class communities.

“We’ll find the mechanism, Sir. Later, how the flats can also help the Air Force, Sir. So we’ll build them, like subsidised flats. So as soon as there are partners, the team takes the initiative. Find strategic locations,” he explained.

He also requested that the flats to be built on the three TNI land locations could later be for MBR and resilient middle-class communities.

“We’ll see which ones are suitable, whether for MBR or for resilient middle class. This is the President’s directive (Prabowo) to build flats with cross-subsidy towards a mix. So we’ll try to make it mixed, can be for MBR, can be for resilient middle class,” he clarified.
