Maruarar Details Construction of 324 Temporary Homes in Senen
The government has stated that the construction of 324 temporary housing units, or huntara, in the Senen area of Jakarta is intended to provide the public with more decent, safe, and organised accommodation. “We want to ensure that the community receives more decent, safe, and organised housing. This huntara is a quick solution while we prepare permanent arrangements,” said Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas Maruarar Sirait in a written statement received in Jakarta on Sunday, 19 April 2026, as quoted from Antara.
She assessed that the progress of the huntara construction is currently progressing very well and even exceeding expectations. “I give my appreciation to the construction SOEs such as Hutama Karya, Wijaya Karya, and PP (Persero). The progress of building these 324 huntara units is extraordinary and fast, with a completion target of 15 June,” she stated.
The housing being built, according to Maruarar, is not only quick but also considers the decency and comfort for the community. “Each huntara unit will be equipped with two beds, a wardrobe, and a fan. In addition, this area will also be equipped with supporting facilities such as a dining area, toilet, kitchen, mushola, and green open space.”
Furthermore, Maruarar also expressed appreciation for the cross-sector collaboration in accelerating this programme. “Thank you to the SOE friends who have carried out President Prabowo Subianto’s directives to provide people’s housing quickly and accurately,” she said.
Meanwhile, the President Director of Angkasa Pura, Muhammad Rizal Pahlevi, expressed the company’s commitment to continue supporting the government’s programme in providing housing for the community.
The construction of huntara in the Senen area is expected to be utilised by the community soon, while also becoming part of more orderly, safe, and humane urban area arrangements. With this step, the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas reaffirms its commitment to providing quick, accurate housing solutions that favour the community in need.
The company secretary of PT PP (Persero) Tbk or PTPP, Joko Raharjo, previously hoped that the housing construction could improve the quality of life of the community while creating a more decent, safe, and organised housing environment. Going forward, PTPP stated that it will continue to support various strategic government programmes, especially those oriented towards improving community welfare.
The construction of this housing is the result of collaboration between the State-Owned Enterprises Management Agency, Danantara Indonesia, the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP), the Central Statistics Agency, and the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. Several construction SOEs are also involved as part of national development synergy.
President Prabowo Subianto has stated his commitment to building decent housing for residents living along the railway tracks in the Senen area. This was conveyed after he directly inspected the conditions of the settlements in the area.
In a visit uploaded through his personal Instagram account, Prabowo was seen traversing the settlement area about 3 kilometres from central Jakarta. He also absorbed the aspirations of the local residents. “Listening to the aspirations of the community there, insya Allah we will soon build decent housing for the community in that area quickly,” said Prabowo on Thursday, 26 March 2026.
