Martial law in N. Maluku to be revoke

TERNATE, North Maluku: The government is considering lifting
martial law in light of the gradual normalization of the
situation in North Maluku, says an official.

"Martial law will certainly be revoked after all refugees have
returned to their home villages in the province," Maj. Gen.
Karyono, secretary of the coordinating minister for political and
security affairs, said in a meeting with local figures and
activists here on Friday.

According to the acting governor's report, the situation in
the province was gradually returning to normal as refugees from
both sides of the conflict went back home.

"The warring parties have improved their levels of cooperation
to rehabilitate their badly damaged villages," said the acting
governor. --Antara
