Martial Arts Groups in East Java Hurl Stones, Police Car Window Smashed

A clash broke out between groups of martial artists in Pakel District, Tulungagung, East Java. The exchange of stones resulted in the shattering of windows on a police patrol car.

According to the Pakel Police Chief, AKP Anwari, the incident occurred on Sunday (28/06/2026) at approximately 02:00 WIB. At the time, a convoy of participants celebrating the Ijazah Kubro event for PSNU Pagar Nusa Trenggalek was passing through the Bandung-Pakel route while heading home.

As they passed through the paddy field area in Sambitan Village, Pakel District, a group of youths who had been hiding in the middle of the fields suddenly emerged and began throwing stones at the convoy.

“We had initially anticipated this would happen around the Sambitan junction up to SDN 1. However, this time, the throwing occurred in the paddy field area because the conditions were dry. Previously, they were hiding behind residents’ houses,” said AKP Anwari on Sunday.

The stone-throwing escalated into a confrontation. Although the situation became heated, no fatalities were reported. However, the windscreen of a Tulungagung Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Resmob) vehicle was shattered by the stones.

“At that moment, the riot control units (Dalmas) stationed in Sambitan were deployed to the scene to suppress and disperse the crowd,” he explained.
