JAKARTA - PT United Tractors Tbk (UNTR) has confirmed that the Martabe gold mine in South Tapanuli, North Sumatra, will resume operations. The company previously halted the mine’s operations in December 2025.

UNTR President Director Iwan Hadiantoro stated that the suspension of the Martabe gold mine, operated by PT Agincourt Resources, began in December 2025. This step was taken to focus on addressing flooding and landslides in the surrounding area.

If all preparations proceed as planned, the Martabe gold mine is targeted to resume operations in mid-May 2026. For this year, the company aims for gold production of around 60,000 ounces.

“The target (for gold production) is around 60,000 ounces for this year,” Iwan said after the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders (AGMS) on Thursday (16/4/2026).

“We are also recalling employees who were temporarily laid off after the operational suspension,” he added.

The resumption of the mine’s operations will be accompanied by improvements in occupational safety standards and environmental management. He assured that coordination with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, as well as stakeholders, will be strengthened to ensure mining activities comply with regulations.

The impact of the operational suspension is reflected in the early-year performance. UNTR’s gold sales volume plummeted significantly to just 2,000 ounces in January-February 2026, far below the 38,000 ounces achieved in the same period the previous year.
