A married couple with initials M (65) and P (60) were targeted in an attack in Jatibening Village, Pondok Gede District, Bekasi, West Java. Several of the victims’ belongings were reported missing.

“The items that were stolen, according to the account of the victims’ child, include a gold bracelet from the victim’s hand and two car keys. We are still cataloguing the rest,” said Metro Bekasi City Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head Kompol Andi Muhammad Iqbal on Monday (2 March 2026).

When discovered, the husband was found dead. The wife sustained injuries and is currently undergoing medical treatment at the hospital.

“The father died on the spot. The mother is still in surgery and is in critical condition,” he explained.

Andi described how the couple was found lying down by their daughter. The incident occurred early this morning shortly before dawn prayers.

Initially, the victims’ daughter would normally be awakened for sahur (pre-dawn meal) by her parents. However, on this occasion, she was not awakened until 04:00 WIB.

“When she woke up, she was shocked, thinking it would soon be time for the dawn prayer, so she went downstairs. When she went down, she got no response, the lights were still off,” he said.

At that time, the daughter could still hear her mother’s voice briefly. However, when the daughter approached, the door handle was already damaged and could not be opened.

“Eventually, she went out to ask for help from neighbours. There were no neighbours around, it was empty because it was early morning. So she called her family members, and they came. Then she broke open the window,” he explained.
