JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - MotoGP 2025 world champion, Marc Marquez, admits that preparing for the new season feels more challenging due to the injuries he has sustained in recent years.

As the 2026 season approaches, Marquez is now 33 years old.

“For me, it’s not getting harder because of age, it’s getting harder because of the injuries. It’s not because of age. Mentally, I still feel young,” said Marquez, quoted by Crash, Thursday (February 26, 2026).

“But it’s true that with one injury after another, it makes my body slower and takes longer to recover,” he said.

The Ducati Lenovo Team rider had a dominant 2025 season, winning 11 Grand Prix and securing his seventh title in the premier class.

“That’s why this winter felt very long, and we’re still working on it. It’s true that after the Thailand race, we had two extra weeks (for recovery),” he said.

Previously, Marquez’s latest shoulder injury occurred after an incident with Aprilia Racing rider, Marco Bezzecchi, on the first lap of the Indonesian MotoGP in October 2025.

Initially, he was not scheduled to undergo surgery. However, because his condition did not improve, he eventually had to undergo surgery and was out until the end of the 2025 season.

Marquez only returned to riding in January 2026 and successfully completed a series of pre-season tests without major problems.
