Marking 10 Years, Nyalanesia Launches NyalaApps at National Literacy Festival 2026
Marking a decade of its journey, Nyalanesia officially launched NyalaApps at the climax of the National Literacy Festival (FLN) 2026. The launch of this integrated literacy ecosystem platform took place solemnly at the Ballroom of Solo Paragon Hotel in Surakarta on Saturday (23 May) under the theme ‘10 Years of Movement, Creating Impact’.
NyalaApps serves as a digital solution to enhance access for schools, teachers, students, and the general public to various literacy programs. The platform integrates learning, publishing, training, and appreciation services into a single, interconnected, and sustainable portal.
Managing Director of Nyalanesia, Khabib Bima Setiawan, highlighted in his impact report that the challenges of education in the fast-paced information era demand stronger critical thinking skills. He stated that literacy should no longer be confined to mere text-reading ability.
‘The role of education today is not just about enabling children to answer questions, but helping them interpret problems, process information, make decisions, and create tangible impact. Literacy is the ability to read the world, opportunities, and the future,’ Khabib emphasised.
Over the past decade, Nyalanesia has recorded significant growth within the national literacy ecosystem. Founder of Nyalanesia, Lenang Manggala, noted that the most evident success of the literacy movement is the emergence of a critical generation. He cited Kirana Anisa, a 13-year-old junior high school student whose work demonstrates social awareness and higher-order thinking skills.
‘We are not just producing books as outputs. What we nurture are children who can read reality and have the courage to voice their concerns through their work,’ said Lenang. He also urged all parties to initiate change from grassroots level if bureaucratic pathways seem difficult.
Appreciation for FLN 2026 came from various national figures. Anies Baswedan, via video message, praised the collaboration between Nyalanesia and the Surakarta City Government as an inspirational space for strengthening educational collaboration.
Similarly, Indonesia’s Deputy Minister of Culture, Giring Ganesha, reminded that a great nation is built through the power of stories and imagination. ‘Let social media not just be a space for entertainment, but a platform to spread useful knowledge and inspiration,’ he advised.
FLN 2026 was also enlivened by NyalaTalks sessions. Indonesia’s Reading Ambassador, Gol A Gong, encouraged participants to leave a legacy of ideas through enduring works. Meanwhile, Surakarta Deputy Mayor Astrid Widayani shared leadership reflections through the Javanese philosophy ‘jupuk iwak ora buthek banyune’—making wise decisions without causing disturbance.
With the launch of NyalaApps, Nyalanesia reaffirmed its commitment to lighting up Indonesia’s educational future through a sustainable, relevant, and far-reaching literacy ecosystem for future generations. (Z-1)
