Marketplace service fee discounts for MSMEs targeted to take effect in August 2026
The Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) is targeting the implementation of a 50 percent service fee discount for MSMEs selling local products on marketplaces to take effect in August 2026. Temmy Satya Permana, Deputy for Small Businesses at the Ministry of MSMEs, stated in Jakarta on Wednesday that the government is currently finalising technical preparations with electronic system-based trading (PMSE) operators to ensure the policy can be applied. According to him, the government is currently integrating the Ministry of MSMEs’ system with digital platforms so that the service fee discount can be applied automatically. Temmy explained that Minister of MSMEs Regulation No. 3 of 2026 on the Protection and Competitiveness Enhancement of Micro and Small Enterprises in Electronic System-Based Trading (PMSE) provides a maximum period of six months for digital trading platforms to prepare for the policy’s implementation. “Perhaps by 1 August it can be operational,” he said. He explained that the amount of service fees charged by marketplaces to sellers currently varies, ranging from 10 percent to 18 percent, excluding promotional or advertising costs. Through this policy, the government requires marketplaces to provide a 50 percent discount on service fees for MSMEs that meet the criteria stipulated in Minister of MSMEs Regulation No. 3 of 2026.
