Marketing promises
From Media Indonesia
During the campaign for the July 5 presidential election, most candidates have been very keen to be seen visiting traditional markets. By doing so, they are able to talk with vendors and shoppers in the hope of winning public support.
However, when they get into power, they will probably forget the promises they made as part of their manifestos.
While they now pledge to protect and to work in the interests of the ordinary people, after being elected they will likely forget about the hopes of the public and adopt policies that do nothing to help the weaker groups in society.
Therefore, I sincerely hope that this presidential election will produce national leaders who have the courage to fight evil and defend virtue, while keeping the promises they have made.
