The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) ended trading in the red on Monday (29/6/2026) with relatively thin transaction value. The JCI fell 75.34 points, or 1.28%, to 5,820.79. A total of 467 stocks declined, 228 advanced, and 264 remained unchanged.

Transaction value was notably low. Throughout the day, only Rp 8.69 trillion was recorded, involving 13.29 billion shares in 1.21 million transactions. For context, the average daily transaction value last week had already fallen 29.13% week-on-week to Rp 17.58 trillion. The decline in transaction value has been occurring since the beginning of the month. Compared to the last week of the previous month, the average daily transaction value has dropped by 38.06%.

The majority of Monday’s trading occurred in three major bank stocks, namely BBCA, BMRI, and BBRI, which contributed 54% of the total transaction value. According to Refinitiv data, major bank stocks, particularly BBCA, were the main drag on the JCI. BBCA contributed -23.34 points, as its shares corrected 4.05% to 5,925. Additionally, TLKM, BREN, BBRI, BMRI, BRPT, and ASII were among the top laggards of the day.

On the flip side, MPRO was the stock with the largest point contribution among the top movers. MPRO, which rose 14.37%, contributed 3.79 points. ENRG, DSSA, and SUPA also made the top movers list, but with much smaller contributions.

Market volatility remained relatively high. The JCI opened in the green this morning and touched a high of 5,942.77, up 0.7%. It took only about 20 minutes for the index to slump into the red zone and remain there until the close.

Financial markets are heading into a sentiment-packed week with a slew of important economic data from both domestic and international sources. Market participants’ focus in the coming days will be on Indonesia’s inflation data, trade balance, and the US employment report, which could alter expectations for the direction of global interest rates. The development of the war will also remain a concern for investors. Investors will also monitor China’s manufacturing activity, European inflation, and a speech by Federal Reserve Governor Kevin Warsh. This series of data is expected to be a key determinant for the movement of the rupiah, the JCI, the bond market, and commodity prices throughout the week.
