Equity Analyst at PT Indo Premier Sekuritas (IPOT), Imam Gunadi, stated that market movements this week will be driven by relatively limited macro catalysts. Consequently, investor focus is likely to shift to the quarterly corporate earnings season. “Company performance results are expected to be the main determinant of sector rotation direction and the sustainability of fund flows into the domestic stock market,” Imam said in a written statement on Monday, 20 July 2026. Additionally, he noted that market attention will be directed towards Bank Indonesia’s interest rate decision, banking credit growth, and money supply data, which will provide an overview of liquidity conditions and economic activity. Last week, the Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) closed up 4.24 percent at the level of 6,175. This weekly gain was the largest in several months. Imam explained that the strengthening was driven by a combination of factors. Globally, market sentiment improved after US inflation showed a faster-than-expected slowdown. Domestically, optimism regarding economic fundamentals increased following S&P Global Ratings’ decision to maintain Indonesia’s sovereign debt rating at BBB with a stable outlook. Investor confidence was also reinforced by foreign investment data. Foreign direct investment (FDI) realisation in the second quarter of 2026 reached Rp 257.7 trillion, an increase of 27.4 percent year-on-year and the highest level in history. “Amid a global economic slowdown and ongoing geopolitical uncertainty, this achievement shows that Indonesia remains an attractive investment destination for foreign investors,” Imam said.
