Maritime expo in Kemayoran

JAKARTA (JP): A major maritime exhibition will be held here at
the Jakarta International Fair ground in Kemayoran from Sept. 23
to Sept. 27 to promote the country's untapped marine resources.

The exhibition organizer PT Proconfo Indoexpo said here on
Wednesday that Indonesia Maritime 2000 would involve several
related government organizations including the Ministry of
Maritime Exploration and Fisheries, Ministry of Communications,
and Ministry of Defense.

In addition to featuring the country's maritime areas with
potential, the expo would also display a wide range of marine-
related technology, shipping, and fishing equipment together with
marine sports resorts, the organizer said.

General Manager of Proconfo Aviv Dharmawan said that the
participants in the expo were expected to come from local and
foreign marine and shipping companies as well as state companies
especially those involved in the marine sector.

He said that the four-day exhibition will cost about Rp 4
billion.(02)
