Marines ready to guard Jakarta
The commander of Indonesia's western naval fleet, Vice Admiral Arief Kushariadi, on Monday inspected an anti-riot battalion from the second marines infantry brigade, saying that it is ready to be put under the command of the Jakarta Regional Military Command (Kodam Jaya) in case of emergency.
At the Kwini marine base in Central Jakarta, the two-star navy admiral pledged the battalion's readiness to quell any disturbance or security threat to the nation's capital if called upon.
Accompanied by Marine Corps Chief of Staff Brig. Gen. Cahyono, Vice Adm. Kushariadi conveyed his pride in the battalion's conviction to assist Kodam Jaya in maintaining security and stability in Jakarta. (mds)
