Marines Patrol Cileungsi River to Prevent Pollution

Personnel from the Indonesian Navy’s Marine Corps patrolled the Cileungsi River in Bogor Regency, West Java, to monitor the river’s condition whilst preventing pollution and raising public awareness about environmental cleanliness. The patrol was conducted along the Cileungsi River flow on Tuesday (14/7). Commander of the River Patrol Territorial Task Force, Lieutenant Colonel (Mar) Baron Habibi, stated that the activity is important for maintaining the river’s condition so it remains well-kept and safe for the community. “Through this survey, we can directly identify the river’s condition and monitor potential sources of pollution,” he said. In addition to patrolling, personnel also urged communities along the Cileungsi riverbanks not to dispose of rubbish or waste into the waterway. According to him, public participation is a crucial factor in maintaining water quality and the river’s ecosystem sustainability. Baron expressed hope that these efforts would preserve the Cileungsi River whilst increasing community awareness about keeping the river clean. The river traverses residential and industrial areas, making it one of the waterways frequently monitored for environmental quality and potential pollution.
