Marines Patrol Cileungsi River to Prevent Pollution

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Personnel from the Indonesian Navy’s Marine Corps patrolled the Cileungsi River in Bogor Regency, West Java, to monitor the river’s condition whilst preventing pollution and raising public awareness of environmental cleanliness.

According to an official press release received in Jakarta on Wednesday, the patrol was carried out along the Cileungsi River in Bogor Regency, West Java, on Tuesday (14/7).

Commander of the Territorial Task Force (Satgaster) River Patrol, Lieutenant Colonel of Marines Baron Habibi, said the activity was important to keep the river well maintained and safe for the community.

“Through this inspection, we can identify the river’s condition directly and monitor potential sources of pollution,” he said.

In addition to patrolling, personnel also urged communities living along the banks of the Cileungsi River not to throw rubbish or waste into the river body.

According to him, community participation is a key factor in maintaining water quality and the sustainability of the river’s ecosystem.

Baron expressed hope that these efforts would preserve the Cileungsi River whilst raising public awareness of the importance of keeping the river clean.

The river passes through residential and industrial areas, making it one of the waterways frequently monitored for environmental quality and pollution potential.
