Marine Corps Prepares Training Materials for Civil Service Reserve Component
JAKARTA — The Marine Corps is preparing various training materials for participants in the reserve component (komcad) programme from the civil service apparatus (ASN).
Colonel (Mar) Rana Karyana, Head of the Marine Corps Information Service, stated that preparations were underway following the Ministry of Defence’s decision to engage the First Marine Regiment (Pasmar 1) to conduct komcad training in April 2026.
“We also provide knowledge regarding the instilling of values of honour and responsibility as part of the state defence reserve component,” said Rana, as reported by Antara on Friday, 27 February 2026.
Rana added that the Corps has prepared training materials distinctive to the Marine Corps, including the cultivation of high discipline and loyalty, the development of mental fortitude and adaptability to pressure, survival fundamentals, field resilience, and knowledge of team solidarity (esprit de corps).
Knowledge of team solidarity, according to Rana, is essential to impart despite participants coming from civil service backgrounds.
Beyond curriculum alone, Rana ensured that all best facilities from the Marine Corps—including training grounds, barracks, classrooms, and medical personnel—would be mobilised to support the komcad training programme.
Whilst the entire training concept and facilities used constitute Marine Corps standards, Rana assured that the training methodology would be adapted for civil service participants.
“There will be adjustments in comfort and security aspects, given that participants are from the civilian sector,” Rana clarified.
Previously, the Ministry of Defence indicated that 2,000 ASN participating in komcad training would receive instruction at five TNI training locations.
“The first wave training implementation is planned to take place at several education locations, including the Military Medical Training Centre (Pusdikkes), Squadron 301 Training Centre (Skadik 301), Air Force Language Training Centre (Pusbahasa AU), Jakarta Military Regional Command (Kodam Jaya), and the First Marine Regiment (Pasmar 1),” said Brigadier General Rico Ricardo Sirait, Head of the Defence Information Bureau at the Ministry of Defence Secretariat, in Jakarta on Thursday, 26 February 2026.
The first wave training process will commence in April 2026 and run for approximately 1.5 months.
Sirait continued that the Ministry of Defence has allocated 4,000 quotas across all ministries and agencies wishing to send their ASN to participate in komcad training.
The first wave is planned for 2,000 ASN, with a second wave of the same number scheduled for mid-2026.
