The Head of the Marine Corps Information Service, Colonel (Mar) Rana Karyana, has stated that the Marine Corps has prepared specialised training materials for civil servants (ASN) who will participate in reserve component training at the Marine Corps, specifically at Pasmar I.

“Specialised training from the Navy Marine Corps naturally provides added value that is the hallmark of the Marine Corps,” said Rana when contacted in Jakarta on Friday.

Several specialised materials to be provided include the cultivation of high discipline and loyalty, development of mental resilience and adaptability to pressure, survival fundamentals and field endurance, as well as knowledge about team solidarity (esprit de corps).

According to Rana, knowledge about team solidarity needs to be imparted even though participants come from civil servant backgrounds.

“We also provide knowledge about instilling values of honour and responsibility as part of the state’s defence reserve component,” explained Rana.

Not only materials, but Rana also ensured that all best facilities of the Marine Corps, from fields, barracks, classrooms and medical personnel, will be mobilised to support the reserve component training. Although all training concepts and facilities used are standard Marine Corps procedures, Rana ensured that the training pattern will be adjusted for civil servants.

“There will be adjustments in comfort and security aspects, given that participants come from the civilian sector,” explained Rana.

Rana hopes that all facilities and learning materials provided by the Marine Corps can support the reserve component training process for civil servants so that it can run optimally.

Previously, the Ministry of Defence stated that 2,000 civil servants participating in reserve component training will be trained at five TNI training locations. “The first wave of training is planned to be held at several education locations, including at Pusdikkes, Skadik 301, Pusbahasa AU, Kodam Jaya, and Pasmar 1,” said Defence Information Bureau Chief Brigadier General (TNI) Rico Ricardo Sirait to the news agency in Jakarta on Thursday (26 February).

Rico stated that civil servants will be trained on the fundamentals of military training both in practice and theory. The training process for this wave, continued Rico, will begin in April 2026 and will last approximately 1.5 months.

Rico continued that the Ministry of Defence itself has allocated a quota of 4,000 personnel for all ministries and institutions wishing to send their civil servants to participate in reserve component training. The first wave of training is planned for 2,000 civil servants, and the second wave with the same number will be held in mid-2026.
