Marina Mahathir marries RI photographer
JAKARTA (JP): Malaysian premier Mahathir Mohamad's eldest daughter Marina Mahathir married Indonesian professional photographer Tara Sosrowardoyo Sunday at Sri Perdana, the prime minister's official residence.
The couple first met in 1993 here at the photo exhibition Eyes on ASEAN.
Marina, chairwoman of the Malaysian AIDS Council, was in Jakarta to promote her book, Eyes on Asean, a collection of photos exhibited at the event. Tara was among those who helped in organizing the event which exhibited 120 works of 65 ASEAN photographers, both amateur and professional.
Tara's accomplishments include three years of photographing Java Style, an edition of Java's diverse architectural and interior arts.
Born Dec. 12, 1952, Tara is one of three children of former diplomat Sumaryo Sosrowardoyo and Srihadi Chusiah.
Tara, who has worked 15 years as a professional photographer, belongs to New York-based photography clubs Gama and Liason International. His works has been featured in Time, Vogue and coffee-table works like Pusaka Art of Indonesia.
Tara's marriage to Marina is his second. Marina, 41, a columnist and publicist as well, is mother to 10-year-old Ineza Melanie Mahathir Rousille, daughter from her first marriage to Didiere Roussille, a Frenchman. (ylt)
