Marina Bay City Project in West Lombok Found to Be Unlicensed

The Marina Bay City Lombok project in the Preparatory Village of Pengantap, Sekotong District, West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, has been found to be operating without permits. The West Lombok Regency Government has yet to issue a construction permit for the project.

The Head of the West Lombok Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Office, Hery Ramadhan, stated that the permit for the Marina Bay City Lombok project was submitted in late 2025, but its issuance is still under review.

“There is no permit yet. The permit has been applied for, but it is in the review process. The permit application is under the name Marina Bay City,” Hery said on Thursday.

The permit cannot be issued because various documents, such as the company’s legality and land tenure legality, have not been completed by Marina Bay City. Hery stressed that the applicant’s legal standing must be clear before a permit is granted.

The Head of the Public Works, Spatial Planning, Housing, and Settlement Areas Office of West Lombok, Lalu Ratnawi, also confirmed that a Building Approval for the Marina Bay City Lombok project site has not been issued.

Ratnawi said the permit cannot be issued because Marina Bay City had already begun construction before the permit was granted and was found to have violated coastal setback regulations.

“Yes, we have not issued any Building Approval in that area. How can it be issued when the submitted requirements and documents are incomplete and violate the rules,” Ratnawi explained.

Previously, the Marina Bay City Lombok project came under scrutiny following reports of alleged fraud being handled by the Bali Regional Police. In addition, three resort buildings of the Marina Bay project in the Preparatory Village of Pengantap, Sekotong District, West Lombok, were demolished by the West Lombok Public Works Office because they were built before permits were issued and violated coastal setback rules.
