Mar'ie reelected Red Cross chairman
JAKARTA: Mar'ie Muhammad was re-elected chairman of the Indonesia Red Cross (PMI) for the second time during a national meeting attended by some 500 PMI branch leaders across the country early this week.
Mar'ie was elected by participants of the meeting, according to a statement from the Red Cross sent to The Jakarta Post on Thursday.
Under the leadership of Mar'ie, the Red Cross had distributed Rp 100.2 billion to victims of natural disasters and conflicts across the country.
During the meeting, the Red Cross also outlined its strategic plan for the years 2005 to 2009. It plans to improve services during conflict and natural disasters and its blood transfusion facilities as well as improving humanitarian values and public health. -- JP
