Mardiono's Response to Internal Turmoil in PPP, Ready to Mediate with Cadres
Jakarta - The General Chairman of the United Development Party (PPP), Muhammad Mardiono, has spoken out regarding the unrest within his party. It is known that several regional cadres have openly expressed a vote of no confidence in PPP Secretary General Taj Yasin Maimoen (Gus Yasin) and Deputy Chairman Agus Suparmanto. “Insha’Allah, I will conduct mediation with the parties from the cadres who have conveyed this aspiration,” Mardiono told Kompas.com on Sunday (26/4/2026). On the other hand, Taj Yasin and Agus Suparmanto are accused of carrying out organisational sabotage through a series of party letters deemed to have triggered disturbances in several regions. This lawsuit represents the peak of anxiety among party officials and cadres at the regional level. Cadres in Southeast Sulawesi feel betrayed by the passive stance of Taj Yasin and Agus Suparmanto, who are accused of being the masterminds behind the party’s stalled machinery amid a crucial political momentum that should serve as an arena. “Regional chairmen are currently preparing a civil lawsuit against Taj Yasin as Secretary General and Agus Suparmanto. This is an accumulation of regional disappointment over the emergence of letters that have instead caused internal party unrest,” said Rachmawati in her written release on Saturday (18/4/2026). She explained that the lawsuit process is still in the maturation stage by the legal team representing PPP’s provincial branches across Indonesia. Coordination continues to ensure that the legal steps taken have a strong foundation before being officially filed in court. “The legal team is working, and in the near future, the lawsuit will be filed soon. This is not a spontaneous step, but one that has been thoroughly discussed with all regional representatives,” she said. “The lawsuit against Taj Yasin will be filed at the Semarang District Court, while for Agus Suparmanto, it will be submitted to the South Jakarta District Court,” she added. In addition to pursuing legal channels, regional cadres are also urging PPP General Chairman Muhammad Mardiono to take firm action immediately by dismissing Taj Yasin from his position as Secretary General.
