The Chairman of the United Development Party (PPP) and the President’s Special Envoy for Food Security, Muhamad Mardiono, has urged community leaders, academics, and observers to be more judicious in expressing their views in public spaces. Mardiono made this call in response to a political analyst’s statement claiming that President Prabowo Subianto would not complete his term until 2029. The statement emerged during a Halal Bihalal forum titled “Before Observers Are Regulated” held in Utan Kayu, East Jakarta, on Tuesday (31/3/2026). According to Mardiono, the statement is not only speculative but also potentially creates political instability and disrupts public trust in the legitimate government. Mardiono emphasised that differences of opinion are normal in a democracy. However, every view must be expressed constructively, prioritising ethics and responsibility to maintain national unity. Mardiono also reminded that Indonesia is still in the Eid al-Fitr atmosphere, which should be seen as a moment to strengthen unity, foster closer relations, and bring coolness to national and state life. “In this month full of blessings, it is fitting that we present narratives that soothe, rather than muddy the atmosphere with provocative and counterproductive statements,” said Mardiono. “There is no reason not to support Father President Prabowo. He has noble aspirations to return sovereignty to the people for prosperity,” he asserted. Mardiono added that the government under President Prabowo’s leadership is working hard to address various challenges, from strengthening the national economy to global dynamics such as the energy crisis and geopolitical uncertainties. “The government is striving maximally to strengthen the economic foundation, improve public welfare, and maintain national stability. Therefore, all elements of the nation should provide support, rather than spreading unfounded speculation,” he stated.
