Marcell Siahaan explores simplicity through his religious single 'Menuju Cahaya'

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Musician Marcell Siahaan has released his second religious single entitled ‘Menuju Cahaya’, which depicts the inner journey of humans letting go of ego and learning to be humble.

The song describes the moment when humans stop feeling like the centre of everything and begin to move towards something greater than themselves.

“The purification of the self is a process that should be celebrated by anyone, anywhere and at any time,” said Marcell in a press release on Thursday.

He also shared that the concept of Tazkiyatun Nafs is the main inspiration for his latest work.

The concept, which describes the purification of the soul, is in line with the message in the Quran in Surah Asy-Syams (91) verses 9-10 and Surah Al-A’la (87) verse 14, which both state that true success does not come from external recognition, but from the courage to cleanse the inner self.

The meaning of “Light” in this song is not interpreted as a symbol of personal success or instant enlightenment, but rather explains the goal, as something to be approached, not owned.

The interpretation is inspired by the depiction of Divine Light in Surah An-Nur verse 35, so that the lyrics do not highlight the ego, but emphasize the process of taking a journey.

From a musical point of view, the singer of “Takkan Terganti” took a minimalist and repetitive approach.

Electronic nuances were deliberately added by Marcell to give a new touch to his work, but he promised that it would not eliminate his musical characteristics.

“I deliberately created this song with a slightly different arrangement, of course without losing its essence, in the hope that this song can attract more listeners from various wider and more diverse segments, and whoever they are can interpret the music and lyrics of this song without having to wait for certain moments,” he said.
