Marc Marquez Undergoes Surgery After 2026 French MotoGP Crash, Ducati Reveals Latest Condition of the World Champion
Ducati Lenovo Team manager, Davide Tardozzi, revealed the latest developments regarding his star rider, Marc Márquez, after he underwent surgery in Madrid on Sunday (May 10th). According to Tardozzi, the surgery went well, and the team is now awaiting further developments in the recovery process alongside the medical team.
“The surgery went well, and now we are waiting for the next stage of the recovery process. We hope everything goes according to plan,” said Tardozzi, as quoted from the MotoGP website, Friday.
The Spanish rider had to undergo medical procedures on his right foot and right shoulder after an accident during the sprint race of the 2026 French MotoGP at the Le Mans circuit in early May.
Tardozzi explained that the injury to Marc’s right shoulder did not pose a major obstacle to the healing process, even though the rider with the number 93 had previously experienced similar problems.
The Italian also expressed optimism that Marc would be able to return to competitive racing after recovering. He believes that the seven-time MotoGP world champion has experience in dealing with serious injuries and is capable of bouncing back with impressive performances on the track.
“I think Marc understands this situation, and he works very professionally. He has been through more difficult times before and has still been able to compete at the highest level,” said Tardozzi.
In the latest surgery, the medical team treated a fracture of the fifth metatarsal in Marc’s right foot. In addition, the brother of Alex Marquez also underwent additional procedures on his right shoulder to address an old injury that recurred after the incident at the 2025 Indonesian MotoGP.
The doctors reportedly removed two screws and fragments of bone from the 2019 Latarjet surgery that had shifted and were pressing on the radial nerve in Marc’s shoulder.
As of now, there is no official confirmation regarding the schedule for Marc Marquez’s return to the racetrack after undergoing the surgery. (Ant/P-3)
