JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Deputy Speaker of Commission V of the House of Representatives, Syaiful Huda, said there are still many pothole-ridden roads on the Mudik 2026 route. Huda said the Ministry of Public Works (PU) has carried out repairs gradually. However, he urged that there should be no road repairs still underway on H-7 before Eid al-Fitr 2026.

‘We have information from various regions; some roads on the mudik route that will be used still have many problems, many potholes. We received this last month, and repairs have been carried out by the Ministry of Public Works,’ Huda told reporters at the DPR building, Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday (5/3/2026). ‘And we hope this can be completed on time; we don’t want there to be work on minus 7, minus 8—we do not want that.’

Huda also drew attention to the readiness of rest areas for Mudik 2026. He said those needing to rest must be accommodated in rest areas so as not to cause accidents on toll roads. ‘When people cannot enter a rest area, even though they need to rest, but because it is full, they continue driving, and the risk is fatigue on the road, which could lead to accidents; this needs to be anticipated seriously,’ he said.

Separately, Huda noted that the DPR has asked the Road Toll Operator Agency (BPJT) to ensure minimum service standards on toll roads.
