Many Holidaymakers Already Confident Using Electric Vehicles
CIPULARANG - The trend of electric vehicles is developing rapidly in Indonesia at present. It is even predicted that the number of holidaymakers travelling out of town using electric vehicles will increase further. Frince Rajagukguk, Head of Travoy Rest Area KM 88A, stated that to welcome holidaymakers using electric vehicles, 14 SPKLU nozzles have been provided. “The number of electric vehicle users is predicted to be higher during this year’s mudik season. Therefore, Travoy Rest Area KM 88A has 14 SPKLU nozzles. Eleven nozzles from PLN, three from Voltron,” said Frince to the Merapah 2026 team a few days ago. In more detail, the SPKLU from PLN at Travoy Rest Area KM 88A consists of five fast-charging nozzles. Meanwhile, Voltron provides two fast-charging nozzles. “Currently, the demand for fast charging among users is high,” said Frince. Director of PT Astari Marga Sarana (Pendopo Rest Area Km 456), Sutomo, said that the number of visitors to the rest area is estimated to increase significantly during the mudik period, as well as those using electric vehicles. To anticipate this surge, the management has optimised the availability of SPKLU. “For electric vehicle users, we are cooperating with Astra Power. There are two dispensers on each side with three nozzles of medium to fast-charging capacity, so charging only takes about 20-30 minutes,” he stated. With these various efforts, holidaymakers are expected to utilise the rest areas wisely. Resting sufficiently and taking turns driving are key to ensuring smooth journeys without causing congestion at critical points on the mudik routes.
