Majalengka, Majalengka — Many seats in the legislature were empty as Majalengka’s Regional House of Representatives (DPRD Majalengka) held a plenary meeting to present three draft local regulations. Some attendees were observed busy with their mobile phones during the session.

The plenary meeting, held in the Bineka Yudha Sawala Chamber, Majalengka DPRD Building on Wednesday (20 May 2026), was attended by regional leaders and DPRD members. According to the attendance list, out of 49 DPRD members, only around 34 were present. Fifteen members were absent without a clear explanation. The number of absent lawmakers meant the attendees slightly outnumbered the executive in the meeting.

Nevertheless, several attendees were seen using their mobile phones, with some opening chat apps, social media, or even playing games. There were also those who appeared yawning during the presentation of the meeting materials.

DPRD Chairman Didi Supriadi, when asked for comment, said he was not aware of any DPRD members playing on their mobile phones during the meeting, as he did not witness it personally. He also had not received reports about the reasons for the absence of several DPRD members. “No notification yet,” Didi said after the session.

Meanwhile, despite many lawmakers not attending, the plenary session proceeded as usual. Majalengka Regent Eman Suherman delivered the three draft local regulations to be discussed with the DPRD.

The three draft regulations were: the Draft Local Regulation on the Control and Supervision of Alcoholic Beverages; the Draft Local Regulation on Building Family Resilience; and the Draft Local Regulation on Guidance and Supervision of Construction Services.
