Manulife Officially Completes Acquisition of Schroders Indonesia
Manulife Wealth & Asset Management has officially completed the acquisition of PT Schroder Investment Management Indonesia through its subsidiary, PT Manulife Aset Manajemen Indonesia (MAMI), after all transaction requirements were met, including approval from the Financial Services Authority (OJK).
The completion of the transaction marks the beginning of a phased integration process between MAMI and Schroders Indonesia. During the transition period, both entities will continue to operate in parallel while implementing the merger of operational processes and client services.
Chief Executive Officer of Wealth and Asset Management Asia at Manulife, Fabio Fontainha, stated that the completion of this acquisition reflects the company’s long-term commitment to strengthening its investment management business in Indonesia.
He assessed that combining the capabilities of the two investment managers will enhance business scale, increase innovation capacity, and expand investment services for clients.
With the completion of this transaction, MAMI’s position as one of the major players in Indonesia’s investment manager industry is expected to become even stronger. The company combines global investment experience with local expertise and the distribution network built by Schroders Indonesia over decades.
CEO and President Director of MAMI, Afifa, stated that this acquisition is an important milestone for the company, which is entering its 30th year this year.
According to her, the merger of talents and expertise from both companies will enhance the ability to deliver investment solutions while strengthening leadership position in the national investment manager industry.
Meanwhile, CEO and President Director of Schroders Indonesia, Michael T. Tjoajadi, said that integration with MAMI opens new opportunities to expand access to global resources and deepen investment capabilities.
Combined Assets Under Management Strengthened
Prior to the acquisition, MAMI managed investment funds worth Rp124.3 trillion and served more than 2.5 million clients as of 31 December 2025. On the other hand, Schroders Indonesia managed assets exceeding Rp53 trillion in the same period.
Schroders Indonesia has been operating in Indonesia since 1991 and has developed its investment management business since 1997, with a wide distribution network and a strong institutional investor base.
The value of the acquisition transaction was not disclosed to the public.
