Manulife Wealth & Asset Management has officially completed the acquisition of PT Schroder Investment Management Indonesia through PT Manulife Aset Manajemen Indonesia (MAMI), after all approvals from the Financial Services Authority have been obtained.

Fabio Fontainha, CEO of Wealth and Asset Management Asia at Manulife, stated that the completion of this acquisition strengthens MAMI’s position as Indonesia’s largest investment manager. “It also builds a stronger, more innovative, and globally insightful platform for clients,” he remarked in his statement (1/4/2026).

Prior to the acquisition, MAMI managed funds worth Rp124.3 trillion with more than 2.5 million clients. Schroders Indonesia managed funds exceeding Rp53 trillion. The combination results in assets under management of around Rp177 trillion, making the merged entity one of the largest players in the industry.

Afifa, CEO & President Director of MAMI, added that this acquisition is more than just a transaction. “It is a new chapter in delivering high-quality investment solutions and strengthening our leadership in the investment management industry,” she explained.

The acquisition combines Manulife’s global capabilities with Schroders Indonesia’s local investment expertise. The merged platform is expected to deliver:

  • Larger business scale

  • Deeper investment capabilities

  • A wider range of products and solutions.

Michael T. Tjoajadi, CEO of Schroders Indonesia, stated that joining MAMI opens access to broader resources and new growth opportunities. “While maintaining our culture and service quality,” he emphasised.

Schroders Indonesia has been operating since 1991 and has received more than 140 awards since 2003.

During the integration, MAMI and Schroders Indonesia will continue to operate in parallel. Clients and partners will receive gradual information regarding branding, products, and operations to ensure clarity and continuity of services.

For context, MAMI’s acquisition of Schroders Indonesia was first announced on 24 September 2025. However, the transaction at that time was awaiting approval from the Financial Services Authority (OJK).
