Jakarta - The Finance Ministry (Kemenkeu) has stated that Indonesia’s Manufacturing Purchasing Managers Index (PMI), which reached a record high of 53.8 in February 2026, represents an important asset for Indonesia in facing the global situation.

“Domestic economic resilience is an important asset amid the dynamic global situation,” said Febrio Kacaribu, Director General of Economic Strategy and Fiscal Policy at the Finance Ministry, in a written statement in Jakarta on Monday.

Febrio noted that the strengthening of manufacturing is being driven by a surge in new demand matched by significant production growth. Overall business sentiment remains solid, supported by expectations of strengthened demand and price stability that is projected to improve.

This positive sentiment is also supported by strengthening domestic demand. Febrio elaborated that the Real Sales Index (IPR) grew 7.9 per cent year-on-year in January 2026, driven by increased sales of food and beverages, textiles, and increased mobility. Strengthening consumption is also evident from positive motor vehicle sales, with motorcycle sales rising 3.1 per cent and car sales growing 7.0 per cent.
