A number of transportation agency officials and residents are on guard in front of the Ampera Road level crossing in Bekasi, West Java, on Thursday (30/4/2026). Motorcyclists are seen waiting as a train passes, following the installation of manual barriers by the local government as a step to improve safety. The Bekasi City Transportation Agency (Dishub) installed the barriers after an accident incident involving a train and a taxi in the Bekasi Timur Station area on Monday (27/04/2026). The incident triggered the strengthening of the security system at the level crossing point deemed vulnerable. Observations at the location show that the barriers, painted in red-and-white patterns, have been installed and function to regulate vehicle traffic when a train passes. The presence of these barriers is expected to minimise accident risks while increasing road user discipline. The operation of the barriers is carried out by Bekasi City Dishub officials with support from surrounding residents. Officials are deployed every day from 05:00 to 22:00 WIB, with task divisions on both sides of the tracks and road to ensure smooth and secure traffic in the area.
