Manpower Ministry Strengthens Vocational Education and Industry Synergy
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) is committed to strengthening synergy between vocational education and the industrial world as an effort to produce competent and competitive human resources (SDM).
“The knowledge taught must not stop in the classroom. Vocational education emphasises the ability to execute, practise, and produce,” said Secretary General of Kemnaker Cris Kuntadi in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.
One such effort is the signing of a cooperation agreement (PKS) between the Manpower Polytechnic (Polteknaker) and PT Huawei Tech Investment concerning cooperation in education, competency development, and human resource empowerment.
“This is an operational follow-up to the understanding that has been built between Kemnaker and Huawei. What was agreed at the ministry level as a broad direction is now translated into concrete steps at the educational unit level through programmes that directly impact lecturers and students,” Cris said.
According to him, Polteknaker, as the only vocational higher education institution under Kemnaker, carries the mandate to prepare competent human resources in the field of manpower through study programmes in Occupational Safety and Health (K3), Industrial Relations, and Human Resource Management.
Through this cooperation, both parties will collaborate in three main areas. First, in education and teaching through the involvement of practitioners as guest lecturers in public lectures and seminars, curriculum alignment, industrial visits, and the provision of practice facilities for students.
Second, competency improvement and human resource development through various training programmes, including the Training to Trainer programme from the ICT Academy, which enables lecturers to update their technological competencies and transfer that knowledge to students.
Third, human resource empowerment through the provision of internship opportunities, job vacancy information, and campus hiring events that connect young talent with the needs of the business and industrial world.
According to Cris, the cooperation will benefit all study programmes at Polteknaker. K3 students will gain insights into occupational safety in the digital era, Industrial Relations students will acquire a more comprehensive understanding of modern industrial relations, while Human Resource Management students will obtain a world-class talent management perspective.
Furthermore, Cris emphasised that all competency development efforts undertaken by Kemnaker are ultimately aimed at improving the quality of Indonesia’s human resources.
“Therefore, human resource development must be positioned as a long-term investment that will determine the nation’s competitiveness in the future,” he said.
