Manpower Ministry strengthens Indonesian technical internship programme in Yamaguchi, Japan
The Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) is strengthening the technical internship programme for Indonesian participants in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan.
Kemnaker Secretary General Cris Kuntadi said in a statement in Jakarta on Friday that the cooperation was reinforced through the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) with the Yamaguchi Prefectural Government regarding the increased dispatch and acceptance of Indonesian technical internship participants.
“This signing is an important momentum to strengthen Indonesia-Japan cooperation, particularly in human resource development and technical internships,” said Cris.
He further said the signing also aims to strengthen exchanges, handling of issues, and protection of participants during the programme.
In addition, an information-sharing mechanism is expected to support the career development and independence of participants after they return to Indonesia.
“Japan has valuable experience, technology, and a culture of productivity, while Indonesia has potential human resources ready to contribute,” said Cris.
He added that the implementation of the signed MoC will subsequently be adjusted in line with developments in Japan’s labour policy, namely Employment for Skill Development (ESDP).
“It is hoped that this cooperation can become a strong and adaptive foundation for Indonesian human resource development,” he said.
Furthermore, he said the Indonesian government is also committed to preparing human resources with skills, language ability, work ethic, and understanding of work culture that meet Japan’s needs.
The Indonesian government hopes Yamaguchi Prefecture can continue to support the creation of a safe, good, and conducive working and social environment for Indonesian human resources.
“The signing of the MoC with the Yamaguchi Prefectural Government is an initial step towards more concrete implementation in improving Indonesian human resources through the Technical Intern Training Program,” said Cris.
“We hope this MoC will soon be translated into concrete, measurable programmes that provide real benefits for participants, companies, and communities in both countries, and serve as an initial foundation for implementing the new ESDP policy which will come into effect early next year,” he added.
