Manpower Ministry strengthens data-based education-industry 'link and match'
The Ministry of Manpower is reinforcing efforts to align and link education with industry based on data. Head of the Ministry’s Planning and Development Agency, Anwar Sanusi, stated that a key step is strengthening the Labour Market Information System (LMIS). “The strengthening of LMIS is emphasised so that data on labour needs can be accessed in real-time by the education sector and industry,” Anwar said in Jakarta on Monday. The LMIS is an integrated data platform managed by the Ministry’s Labour Market Centre, designed to collect, analyse, and disseminate employment information and connect job seekers with industry. Beyond providing access to job vacancies and job fair information, the LMIS also offers training data to help the workforce access employment information more easily and in an integrated manner. Anwar added that the Ministry has other strategic measures to address the mismatch between education and industry, specifically highlighting the National Internship Programme. He described the programme as an important instrument to bridge the transition of university graduates from the world of education to the world of work.
