Manpower Ministry Opens Internship Programme to Japan, Check Requirements and Registration Details
The Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) has opened registration for the Japan Internship Programme and Kaigo Training for prospective workers wishing to pursue careers in Japan through official government channels. The programme has been prepared to meet the high demand for labour in Japan, whilst simultaneously enhancing the competence of Indonesian human resources to compete in the international labour market.
Director General of Vocational Training and Productivity Development at the Manpower Ministry, Darmawansyah, said participants will be equipped with technical skills, Japanese language ability, and an understanding of the work culture that is standard in the country. “Global job opportunities must be matched with adequate competency readiness. Therefore, the Ministry of Manpower continues to strengthen vocational training and apprenticeships so that Indonesian workers are able to compete and adapt in international work environments, including in Japan,” Darmawansyah said in a written statement on Sunday (14/6/2026).
Through the Japan Internship Programme, participants will undergo pre-departure training, Japanese language learning, and skills enhancement according to industry needs. After completing the training, participants have the opportunity to gain direct work experience at various companies in Japan. Recruitment for the programme is carried out in stages through provincial and district/city manpower offices, as well as the Centres for Vocational Training and Productivity (BBPVP) and Vocational Training and Productivity Centres (BPVP) throughout Indonesia.
In addition to the internship programme, the Ministry of Manpower is also opening Kaigo Training for job seekers who wish to pursue careers as elderly caregivers in Japan. Over six months, participants will receive Japanese language training and competency provision according to elderly care service standards in Japan. This programme is considered to have significant prospects because the need for Kaigo workers continues to increase along with the growing elderly population in the country. “The Kaigo field offers promising prospects along with the increasing need for elderly care workers in Japan. We want to prepare competent human resources who are able to compete in this sector,” said Darmawansyah.
The Ministry of Manpower reminded the public to only follow the recruitment process through official government channels and not to easily trust offers to work abroad that promise instant departure. Information regarding the requirements, selection schedule, and registration procedures for the Japan Internship Programme can be accessed through the programme’s official channels. Meanwhile, information related to Kaigo Training is available through the SIAPkerja and Skillhub Kemnaker platforms. “All stages of recruitment and selection are carried out through established mechanisms,” asserted Darmawansyah.
