Manpower Ministry Closes National Internship Programme, 1,940 Participants Withdraw
The Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) has officially closed Batch 3 of the 2025 National Internship Programme, marking the completion of the entire series for the year. Manpower Minister Yassierli stated the programme received high public enthusiasm, with 102,000 applicants accepted out of a 100,000 quota. “We estimated that several thousand would withdraw, possibly because they got a job, continued their studies, and so on,” Yassierli explained during a press conference in South Jakarta on Thursday (18/6/2026). Meanwhile, Anwar Sanusi, Head of the Ministry’s Planning and Development Agency (Barenbang), recorded 1,940 participants who withdrew, while 20,450 completed the internship. Reasons for withdrawal included securing other employment (1,279), personal or family issues (295), continuing education (93), health reasons (55), distant company locations (60), other reasons (49), and no explanation (109). Anwar noted that the high number of participants who found jobs during the programme highlights the benefit of internships as a bridge to the world of work.
