Manpower Ministry assures improved JKP services for laid-off workers
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) has ensured that it will continue to improve worker protection services, including the Job Loss Guarantee (JKP) for victims of industrial relations disputes and layoffs (PHK).
“Yes, as part of our mitigation, the first priority is certainly regarding the JKP, the Job Loss Guarantee; we are continuously improving our services,” said the Head of the Manpower Planning and Development Agency (Barenbang Ketenagakerjaan) of the Ministry of Manpower, Anwar Sanusi, in Jakarta on Wednesday.
According to him, JKP serves as a vital social cushion for those facing layoffs. The benefits of JKP include cash payments amounting to 60 per cent of wages for a maximum of six months in accordance with applicable regulations, access to labour market information, job training, and career guidance through professional counselling.
“For someone who has been laid off, JKP is extremely important. Firstly, they will receive a form of financial compensation, specifically a cash benefit, which can be utilised during their waiting period while searching for new employment,” Anwar stated.
Beyond being part of the social protection ecosystem for employment, JKP also serves as a platform to strengthen the competence and career readiness of the Indonesian workforce.
“Secondly, they also receive benefits through job training, both in terms of reskilling and upskilling. Thirdly, they gain access to and guidance through employment-related services, such as available job information and so forth,” said Anwar.
Consequently, the Ministry of Manpower is encouraging workers to understand the eligibility requirements for the JKP programme and to ensure they meet the criteria to become participants and utilise the available services.
The requirements include being an Indonesian citizen (WNI), a wage-earning worker, under the age of 54 at the time of registration, and being registered under the National Health Insurance (JKN) BPJS Kesehatan.
Furthermore, workers in micro and small enterprises must be registered in the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan programme, which includes Work Accident Insurance (JKK), Death Benefits (JKM), and Old Age Benefits (JHT).
Meanwhile, workers in medium and large enterprises must be registered in the JKK, JKM, and JHT programmes, as well as the Pension Security (JP) programme.
