Manpower Ministry and Pertamina Partner on HR Development and OHS Training
The Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) has established a partnership with PT Pertamina (Persero) concerning the development of human resources (HR) competency and vocational training in the field of occupational health and safety (K3).
Manpower Minister Yassierli stated in Jakarta on Tuesday that the collaboration with Pertamina is a strategic step in strengthening the national employment ecosystem, particularly through developing vocational training relevant to industry needs. “This synergy is expected to produce workers who are not only competent but also adaptive to the dynamics of the working world,” he said.
He also encouraged Pertamina to become an example in HR development, industrial relations management, and the preparation of future skills required across various sectors. “We want many success stories to emerge from Pertamina, including in strengthening industrial relations and developing HR competency,” Yassierli remarked.
According to him, the involvement of the business world is key to producing workers who meet industry standards and requirements. Therefore, companies are expected not only to provide access to work-based learning but also to play an active role in building a sustainable training and competency development ecosystem.
Meanwhile, PT Pertamina (Persero) Deputy CEO Oki Muraza affirmed that collaboration with Kemnaker is increasingly important amid rising operational demands to maintain national energy security. He noted that the company’s operational success is supported not only by infrastructure but also by the readiness of the human resources who manage all business processes from upstream to downstream.
Oki added that every day, hundreds of thousands of workers within the Pertamina Group are involved in maintaining the smooth distribution and production of national energy. Therefore, a workforce is needed that not only possesses technical competence but also upholds strong discipline and a robust safety culture. “In the Pertamina Group, operational success begins with the human resources who run it. They ensure all processes run safely, productively, and with high performance,” Oki said.
On a separate note, PT Pertamina (Persero) President Commissioner Mochamad Iriawan expressed hope that the collaboration between Pertamina and Kemnaker could be the first step in building a centre for safety competency development with national to regional standards. Iriawan mentioned that the scope of future collaboration could also be expanded, not only to vocational training but also to talent development to support industrial transformation, digitalisation, and the energy transition towards the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision. “I want this synergy to become an important milestone in building superior Indonesian human resources, strengthening the occupational safety culture, and providing sustainable benefits for society and national development,” Iriawan said.
