Manpower Minister: Social dialogue key to resolving employment issues
Minister of Manpower Yassierli has stated that social dialogue is the key to resolving various employment issues amidst the continuously evolving world of work. According to him, constructive communication between the government, employers, and trade unions forms the foundation for producing balanced policies for all parties. “In facing these various challenges, constructive social dialogue is key so that every issue can be resolved through communication, mutual respect, and the search for balanced solutions for all parties,” Yassierli said in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday. The Minister further explained that the spirit of equal tripartite partnership has given birth to various strategic policy recommendations through the National Tripartite Cooperation Institution (LKS Tripnas) for the 2023-2026 period. During this period, LKS Tripnas held 41 working body meetings and 20 plenary sessions as forums to discuss strategic employment issues. Yassierli explained that the recommendations produced by LKS Tripnas include efforts to prevent mass layoffs, strengthening labour inspection, structuring regulations for loading and unloading workers, and reviewing the Minister of Manpower Regulation Number 7 of 2026 concerning Outsourcing Work. In addition, LKS Tripnas also encourages the synchronisation of labour regulations following the Constitutional Court’s decision, the implementation of a productivity-based wage system, the strengthening of the national productivity movement, the improvement of worker competence, and the certification of productivity experts. “Let us maintain and continue to strengthen the values of collaboration, deliberation, and the spirit of tripartite mutual cooperation that we have built together,” said Yassierli, who also serves as Chair of LKS Tripnas for the 2023-2026 period. In agreement, the Director General of Industrial Relations and Social Security Development at the Ministry of Manpower, Indah Anggoro Putri, stated that the achievements of LKS Tripnas throughout the 2023-2026 period demonstrate the effectiveness of the tripartite partnership in building harmonious industrial relations. “These achievements are the result of collaborative work from the three tripartite elements, reflecting the spirit of consensus deliberation and equal partnership,” said Indah, who serves as Vice Chair of LKS Tripnas for the 2023-2026 period representing the government.
