Manokwari hit by earthquake

MANOKWARI, Irian Jaya: An earthquake measuring 5.6 on the
Richter scale shook the area surrounding Cendrawasih Bay here on
Sunday afternoon.

Antara reported that the quake's epicenter was believed to be
135 kilometers south of Manokwari and some 33 kilometers below
sea level.

The brief earthquake brought panic to the small town. However
there were no reports of casualties or severe damage to
buildings.
