“I want Floyd to be haunted forever by a loss in his professional record and always remember who gave it to him,” Pacquiao stated in a promotional release by Netflix on Tuesday (February 24).
The fight will be broadcast globally by streaming giant Netflix. Although Pacquiao is now 47 years old and Mayweather is 49, public enthusiasm remains high. Pacquiao claims to have learned a lot from his unanimous decision loss to Mayweather in May 2015.
“Compared to 2015, we are much more mature now and know how to handle it. I hope what happened in 2015 doesn’t happen again,” said the eight-division world champion to ESPN Sports Center.
Before their September clash, both fighters have busy schedules. Pacquiao (62-8-3, 39 KOs) is scheduled to face Ruslan Provodnikov in an exhibition match on April 18 in Las Vegas.
Meanwhile, Mayweather, nicknamed ‘Money,’ has just announced his return from retirement and will have a warm-up fight against former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson on April 25, 2026, in Congo.
“He (Mayweather) initially wanted an exhibition, but I refused. I want a real fight, and this is the moment I’ve been waiting for,” Pacquiao concluded.
