Manila to host next Asia Pacific Assembly
JAKARTA (JP): The South East Asia Forum officially accepted
the Philippines as a new member under an agreement signed here on
Saturday.
The Philippines was also appointed by the 17th Asia Pacific
Assembly here Saturday as the host for next year's assembly.
"The next assembly is planned to be officially opened in
Manila by President Fidel Ramos," the Indonesian Forex
Association's chairman, Jeffrey Turanga, told reporters after the
signing of an agreement on the Philippine membership of the
forum.
The signing was witnessed by a director of Bank Indonesia,
Paul Sutopo.
The South East Forum consists of Indonesia, Singapore,
Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines.
Jeffrey said the Manila assembly will discuss various topics,
including codes of conduct, trader skills and professionalism.
According to Jeffrey, the assembly is a forum for traders in
the Asia Pacific to meet and exchange information and experience
in the forex business.
He added that the assembly was expected to improve the quality
of the traders professionalism. (04)
