Manila dismisses terror threats
THE PHILIPPINES: President Gloria Arroyo dismissed on Thursday
warnings issued by the United States and Canada about terror
threats in the Philippines.
Arroyo's spokesman Ignacio Bunye retorted that both
governments should check with their diplomats here to get the
real situation.
"They are persons on the ground and they know the real
situation," Bunye said in a statement.
The U.S. State Department updated on Wednesday an existing
security alert for the Philippines that had not been due to
expire until the end of May. --AFP
